A homage to Philip Marlowe, Bogart and Bacall and Film Noir...

Marlowe – reeling through
High and low lives - fishing truth,
Gum shoe sheep amongst wolves,
Beneath Hollywood stars and boulevards,
Slick talk screen against blunt objects.
Play your ace of spades again Sam,
It’s very hard to beat,
It takes a heart to beat,
A heart as bruised as a kicked shin,
Black as the blackest dahlia,
Blue as the coyote mountain sky.

Love drove headlong into a cocktail bar,
Are you human tonight Marlowe?
Jesus Christ crucified sideways!
Left for dead in a dames rococo room
To rise again and lead us to the truth
Like the risen sun sheds light
From its great and lonely height
Into this dark and lonely place.
